Mexico, Maine. As you can see in the pictures, we have taken to flying the British Union Jack and the American flag on the car in the super special stages. The fans are pleased. We are 5th in class after the
three super special stages.

We immediately stake our claim to a podium finish by moving into third place after the first real stage, the 16 mile Icicle Brook North, SS4. We have two cameras running on this stage one with a view inside the cabin. Some parts of this stage are quite rough and I have to pick a careful line but sometimes the car takes a real beating which comes into play later.

Stage 5 is the reverse of stage 4 and we move up into 2nd place in class. But the car continues to take a pounding from the rough roads. We manage to hold on to our 2nd place position through the finish of the rally: Concord Pond with its many jumps and crests.

Service crew this time is my friend Bernie Baake from Durham who helped me on the long tow up and back, and Kenny Thorstenson.

Errol Rally, the second regional rally at NEFR sees us in 4th place until we suffer a serious strut tower failure and are unable to continue.
In fact you can see the impending failure in this picture. I am unaware that the tower is failing and the strut is beginning to punch up into the hood on the passenger side. I think this picture was probably less than half a mile before it finally gave way.

It takes several hours before we are able to get our trailer into the stage to retrieve it. The car is suffering from event fatigue after so many events. We manage to get the car repaired enough to drive it onto the trailer. When I get back to North Carolina it will need some serious repair and re-welding.
